Jill & Gill

Obsessive collection | Ready to wear 2019

This collaboration is a celebration of print, illustration, pattern and style. The ‘Iconic bomber’ designed, screen printed onto organic Japanese denim handmade in Dublin and inspired by contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusuma.

Our new collection is inspired by contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Again back to what inspires us, Yayoi is an incredible artist and boss lady. She turned 90 years old this year, her career spans 70 years and her creativity is what has always kept her going. Rather then continue on from last year adding new boss ladies to the collection we wanted to push ourselves in a directions and focus on print. We saw this as a chance to start blurring what we do as fine artists within our apparel collection. Introducing more colour, layers and texture to our wearable pieces.

The Ready to wear collection is a direct response to our 'Iconic Bomber', our Hero piece and the artwork for the ready to wear collection comes from the layers of print created while printing the organic japanese denim for the bombers. In other words the collection is process driven rather then designed and then created.  The new collection is bold, graphic and obsessive in its aesthetic with slight references to Kusama. All pieces from the ready to wear collection are hand printed in our Dublin studio. Our t-shirts are made from 100% organic cotton, a natural GMO-free fibre that uses less water than standard cotton and in addition its production does not involve the use of chemicals and our sweaters have 15% recycled polyester from plastic bottles, all ethically sourced and created under the fairwear foundation.

Jill & Gill Apparel launched officially in July 2018, is made with respect, meets demanding ethical standards and is based on exclusivity and craftsmanship. As a sustainable brand, we are proud to work with suppliers that are associated with the Fair Wear Foundation, an independent organisation that encourages social best practice and equality in the fashion and textile industry. We also encourage our customers to make a conscious investment in our apparel. When it comes down to the design, it's more than just a t-shirt or a sweater, it's 'a celebration through print, illustration and style'

We favour organic or recycled materials that care for your skin and the environment.
