About us
We are Jill & Gill
![]() Jill DeeringWent to NCAD back in 2002 to study graphic design – art was a career I always saw myself doing, but ended up leaving college having a very different outlook on art and if that was really for me – then took a completely different direction and went into music – had a career in that for 9 years playing for James Vincent McMorrow and touring the world, and then Art found its way back into my life and it’s better than I could have imagined. It happened organically, the right way. |
![]() Gillian HendersonCreativity has always played a big part of my life. As a child my earliest creative memories are of my mum, watching her working in the windows of Arnotts in the lead up to Christmas and getting them ready for the big reveal. I studied Interior Architecture after school but changed mid-way through my degree and finish Uni in 2010 with a first class Hons Degree in 3D Design (Product & Furniture) from Ulster University. Printmaking came later after Uni, it was curiosity that lead me to screenprinting. An way to escape the digital world and work more with my hands. |

How we met:Jill & Gill started back at the end of 2016, we met because Jill was looking to screen print an illustration and Gillian was referred to her through Hang Tough. We met up, printed the illustration and got on so well. Straight away there was an appreciation for what the other could do and we both saw the endless possibilities of what we could do if we collaborated together. Shortly after that we got to work on a print commission together for Tall Boy Projects and things just took off from there. We are both extremely supportive of the other, we believe failure is part of the process, accept it and worry about the solution not the problem. Energy is best spent figuring out how to be happy not trying to run away from your fears. We always say feel the fear and do it anyway. You will be at least happy you faced it. This work ethic has stood to us and is what makes Jill & Gill stand out from other illustrators and printmakers. We like to step outside the box, challenge ourselves but never be fearful to ask for help. |
